Here I am jumping for joy because it felt like Spring........and then the snow came! Those of you who've known me for a while know that for the last few winters I have been able to escape to Byron Bay to avoid the worst of the English weather. This year, sod's law, I stayed here, apart from three amazing weeks in India, and realised that I may have the best vintage coats in the world but absolutely no warm clothes to wear underneath...........
You know how much I love doing a fashion shoot in Byron Bay because it's so beautiful and usually reliably sunny, hot and dry, with a big blue sky. So when East sent me some of my favourite accessories from their new Spring/Summer range, all the way from England, I got really excited about photography with a really beachy summery look for my blog. And guess what, the weather changed from Summer to Autumn overnight, blowing such a gale on the beach that we thought we were in Cornwall!
I am like a magpie nowadays. Always on the search for something up-cycled, re-cycled, retro and vintage. I so enjoy owning something that isn't brand new, hasn't been mass marketed or made in China..... and something that has memories, has been put together with love and, most of all, unique, eco and often much, much cheaper than something designer or new!
Everyone seemed to love a peak into my summer wardrobe so much that I thought you might enjoy my new video on how I update a lot of my old winter clothes with accessories such as retro gloves, matching sunnies & the odd new headscarf. All done on a budget, of course!
I had a photo shoot last week to update my publicity pics. I really wanted to wear this old but still much loved dress fromRiver Island, but didn't have an exciting head scarf to style it up - till Age of Reason Studios, very kindly sent me one to try out. Thrilled that it arrived in time for the shoot and even more thrilled with the quality and colours of this scarf. This is definitely going to Australia with me as it's big enough to double up as a sarong.
I didn't mean to buy any winter clothes as I'm only here till the middle of December before going back to Australia. However, I popped into a few Brighton high street shops to see if they had any interesting tops for the Vivienne Westwood skirt I bought for my birthday this time last year. I have only worn it a couple of times so really want to get maximum wear out of it this year.
